Jordan's Necronomicon
For my book project I chose to design my own cover for the Necronomicon. The Necronomicon is a fictional book found in the writing of H.P. Lovecraft. It is a collection of insane creatures and cosmic terrors. I wanted to do a project to reflect that. I made the background black and filled it with eyes of varying size and angles to give it an ominous depth as if things were looking at you from the darkness. Then two large main eyes and a mouth to show that it is all one large entity that we can only see a portion of. I put a persons silhouette in the mouth as if about to be swallowed showing how insignificant people are to these monsters because that is a common theme in the writings. The person also has an eye on their chest because to know about these monsters and to see them is to be consumed by them. Also tentacles coming out of the eyes to further the twisted nature of the thing on the cover.
The create the image was simple. I simply found images a red eye and yellow eye online, then copied and distorted them untill the black background was covered. The inside of the mouth was created with a gradient then teeth were added to the top and bottom. I copied and distorted some tentacles over eyes to make them look like they were growing out of them. Some I blacked out and added around the man's silhouette to make it look like they were swallowing him. Finally I just added some text for the title and distorted it to make it look creepy.

Jordan Grimaud Vector Exercise
For this vector project I chose to show how the words horror and fear interact with one another. Most people think of horror and fear as almost the same thing, one just describes a situation and another an emotion. However, I wanted to show how in truth horror inspires fear so I made the word horror large and menacing and almost attacking the word fear which is small and cowering in the corner over a black background to hint at the horrors that lie in darkness.
To create the image first I chose a font for horror that seem menacing, and then converted it to an object so I could stretch out its anchor points to give it spindly needles and distort it. I enlarged the size of it and placed it in the corner. In order to create the shape I wanted to the word fear I changed the color to a deep red and ungrouped the letters so I could stagger and rotate them to give a cowering form. Then I just placed the word at the bottom corner and added a black background.

Jordan Grimaud Raster Project
For my exploration of time and space raster project I chose photos of my friend doing parkour through a scene. I wanted to show how he chooses to not simply move blankly through a space to his destination but actually explores that space. I wanted to state how this sets him apart from other people, so all other characters in the scene were made to look like ghosts.
How I made this was really simple. I took many pictures of the same scene with my friend in all different positions. Then I cut him out of each picture and placed him on the background scene in the same position. The last thing I did was the same method for the other people in the scene, but to them I lowered the opacity and added a blur to make them ghost like.

Jordan Grimaud Raster Project Places
Looking into view of the alley which is on campus, for my raster project of my friend doing parkour progressively getting closer to me.
The second is from a balcony and I would be looking more down onto mill avenue to get an angled bird's eye perspective on my friend as he moves down the street around people and over obstacles.

Jordan_Grimaud_RasterChoice
For the raster project I am not entirely decided upon which of my
ideas I will go with but I am leaning towards my first of taking photos
of my friend doing parkour. I believe it is a good example of spacial
exploration, and not just moving through a space differently than
walking but interacting with objects to move through the space.
The other idea I am considering is the one of me climbing a building face over time. I believe I can add more depth to the meaning as it is something that has more of a personal meaning. I will likely do the third idea of taking photos all around an object not for the project but for myself to help in my drawing pursuits. After a few photos I should be able to decide more on which idea I want to do.

Raster exercise: Photoshoped Justin Beiber
For this raster exercise I chose to portray Justin Bieber in a negative light. I do not like the celebrity and therefore wanted to humiliate him and put him in a situation that we all want, in jail with a violent cell mate.
To create this image, I used an image of Justin, a person in prison, and some prison cell bars. I adjusted the over all lighting to give a darker mood. Then I used the burn tool to add bruises and the liquify effects to add swelling. I used various images of disgusting things such as cuts and blisters to make him look more messed up.
